President Obama and his administration are looking for new ways to help students who are facing an ever growing amount of student loan debt.

Many education degrees available through online schools and traditional bricks-and-mortar schools require students to declare a specialty right away. Students may be asked to focus on a specific topic area (such as English or History) and on a specific level of education (grade school or high school) but many students who first pursue an education degree are not quite sure what specialty they wish to pursue. An associate degree in general education from an online college or teacher’s college resolves this problem. A general education degree allows future teachers to get a wide range of experience across subject areas and school grades. Eventually, teachers may wish to pursue a more specialized education degree through an online college or traditional college. The general education degree, however, will provide them with a solid base of education theory and skills to build on. In most cases, a general education degree from a traditional college or online college allows a student to study several teaching areas, including Math, Computers, the Arts and Humanities, English Composition, History, General Psychology, and more.
